The project consists of the rehabilitation of a historic two story structure on the corner of 14th and F Street and the construction of a new complimentary addition to the North. The historic portion intends to restore its Façade back to its original design while the new building is designed to contrast yet be sympathetic to the historic building. It does this by repeating the rhythm of the columns and horizontal lines of the older building while it also creates a clear distinction from the old by using bold new materials and colors indicative of the vibrant new use to be housed within. The bold colors of the façade and interior have been chosen to highlight the life and energy that you find with the age group of K-8, providing a welcome addition to the vibrant and eclectic East Village.
